May 21, 1936 MOTHER COLLAPSES AT BEDSIE OF SON Saranac Woman Had Gone to Pennock Hospital to Visit Son Injured in Accident Monday, Mrs.Matilda Clemens of Saranac went to Pennock Hospital, Hastings, to visit her son, Rollo, who was badly injured in the automobile accident Saturday evening. Before she entered sick room, she was told by hospital attaches that her son had little chance of recovery as he had received skull fracture and internal injuries. She wass taken to his bedside. She talked to him, then turned toward the door and collapsed. She was dead when nurses reached her side. The son has not been informed of his mother's death. Mrs.Clemens and son Rollo lived together at Saranac. Her husband died about ten years ago.Mrs Clemens was 55 years of age and her death is attributed to a heart attack caused by the shock of the condition of her son. She is survived by six sons, Gilbert of Waterloo, Iowa; Floyd of Ionia; I.D.Clemens of Battle Creek; Clare, Rollo and Alvin of Saranac; s daughter, Mrs Celia Courser of Breckinridge, and two step-sons, Orville of Waterloo, Iowa and Clayton of Prescott. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home and at 2;30 at the Free Methodist Church in Saranac. Interment will be at Saranac Cemetery.
