The death of Mr. Joseph R. Clemens occurred Saturday last at his home in the
third ward, age 72 years.  Mr. Clemens was the father of J.E. Clemens, formerly
superintendent of the basket factory, and was an old basket maker himself,
having been employed in the factory up to shortly before his death.  He came
here with his son from Massachusetts at the time the factory was established
here.  This is the third death inside of five years, first his wife, then his
son and now he is called.  Brights disease was the cause and he was sick but a
short time.  The funeral services were held Monday afternoon Rev. Quick
officiating, and the factory was shut down so that the employes might attend. 
Burial in the River Ridge cemetery.
