Clements, 82, was found dead at his home Tuesday, about 2:30 p.m. by his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Horace Clements, of Lyons and her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Richard Clements, also of Lyons. The two women had gone to call on Frederick Clements and when they could arouse no one at the house, they discovered the body lying across his bed when they peered through his bedroom window. A neighbor broke the door in for them and a local doctor. Under-sheriff Peter VanVleck and Coroner Wallace Jackson were summoned. It was believed he died during the night as the bedroom light was still on. The body was removed to the Shaw-Rivett funeral home in Muir. Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Lyons Methodist church, with the Rev. Myron E. Hoyt officiating. Interment will be in Lyons cemetery. He was born in North Plains township in October, 1869, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Clements. In October, 1895, he was married to Dora May Hopkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Hopkins of Lyons. She died October 14, 1941. He had lived in Lyons over 50 years. He was a retired painter and paperhanger. Surviving are three sons, Frederick L. of Belding, Harold W. of Ionia Route 3 and Horace G. of Lyons; one daughter, Mrs. William Darnell of Canoga Park, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and a half-brother, George Allen of Portland.
