CLEMENTS ALMA-Harold W. Clements, 82, long-time Ionia area resident, died Thursday afternoon at the Michigan Masonic Home in Alma. He was born in Lyons Oct. 2, 1896, the son of Fred and Dora Hopkins Clements.He attended local schools and served with the U.S. Army in World War I. He married Leitha Allen at shanty Plains in January 1919. They made their home on Peterson road for 41 years before moving to the Michigan Masonic Home in 1977 He was a farmer before working fr Jolly-Kidd C. in Belding and later serving a sewing machine mechanic at Michigan reformatory for 10 years until his retirement in 1976. He was a life member and 50-year member of Lyons Lodge 37, F & A m., and was a past master of the lodge. He was also a member of the Royal Arch Masons Chapter and Council in Portland, of the Knights Templar in Ionia, and the Scottish Rite in Grand Rapids, the Evergreen Chapter 334 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Lyons and the White Shrine of Jerusalem in Ionia. He was a member of the Ionia Barrack 1362, Veterans of World War I, serving as its senior Vice Commander for seven years and Commander from 1972 to 1976. He is survived by his wife of the Masonic Home in Alma, one daughter, Mrs.Roby (Mable) Wright of Muir, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. a brother, Horace, of Lyons; and a sister, Mrs.Alice Darnell of Apache Junction, Ariz., also survive. Masonic memorial services will e held Friday at the Leddick Funeral Home at 7 p.m., under the auspices of the Lyons Masonic Lodge. Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Leddick funeral Home, the Rev. Dr.Lloyd Walker of LeValley Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Clear Lake cemetery.
