The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Tuesday, November 8, 1983

Lena Clifford, 90, of Keefer Highway, Rural Lyons, died Monday evening at the 
Ionia Manor.  She was born in Montcalm County, Michigan on Feb. 8, 1893, the 
daughter of Ulysses and Laura Buck Philips.  She was married to Sam Clifford 
in 1917 in Montcalm County.

They made their home on a farm in Ronald Township near Woodard Lake and spent 
most of their married life in and near the Ionia area.  Her husband preceded 
her in death in Dec. 1960.

She is survived by a son, Lyle of Lyons; five grandchildren; one great-
grandchild; one brother, Grant Philips of Chippewa Lake, Michigan; and one 
half-sister, Mrs. Agnes Buck of Vickeryville.

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. from the Leddick 
Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Easton Cemetery.  The family will receive 
friends and relatives at the funeral home on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings 
from 7 to 9 p.m.
