          CLARABELLE (MARTZ) BARNUM CLINE
   GRAND RAPIDS, MI  -   Clarabelle (Martz) Barnum Cline, age 97, died Thursday,
Feb. 2, 2017 at her residence in Grand Rapids.
    Clarabelle was born in Barry County to Clarence Martz and Hazel Besmer Martz,
March 14, 1919.  She and 11 siblings were raised to be resourceful, faithful and 
always ready to laugh at the silliness in life.  The brothers sand sisters prayed 
for each other daily.
   She is predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Floyd Barnum in 1995, and her
husband of 10 years, Richard Cline in 2007.
   Clarabelle was a woman of faith, active in her church and neighborhood through
all the years of raising a family in Barry County.  Later she continued to find her 
place and in new communities - in Rock Hill, South Carolina, Nashville, Portland, 
and at Clark Home in Grand Rapids.
   Even into these later years, her faith and her creativity sustained her.  She
continued to teach other residents knitting, crocheting, and other crafts.  She was 
named one of the Volunteers of the year by the State o Michigan.
   Clarabelle is survived by her children, Steven (Diane) Barnum, Rodger (Kathy)
Barnum and Lois (Bill) Phelps; along with mom's cherished five grandchildren, their 
spouses and 10 great grandchildren as well, brother; Clarence Martz of Portage.
   She loved the time the grandchildren and great grandchildren spent with her at
Clark Home.
   Clarabelle is also mourned by the children of her second husband, Richard Cline. 
They all called her "Mom". They are Evelyn (Ed) Martin, Richard Cline Jr., Paul Cline, 
Louise Hill, Ralph (Kathie) Showerman, Joyce Showerman, Robert (Laurita) Showerman.
   Clarabelle's family will receive friends on Monday, Feb. 6, 2017 from noon until
the time of services at 2 p.m. at Laurer Family Funeral Homes - Wren Chapel located 
at 1401 N. Broadway in Hastings, with Rev. Dennis DeMond officiating.  Burial will be 
a the Warner Cemetery, in Castleton Township next to the farm where she and Floyd raised 
the family.
   Memorial contributions to the Clark Home Benevolent Fund, 1550 Franklin Street
SE. Grand Rapids, MI 49506 would be greatly appreciated.
