Dorotha P. Clum, 96, formerly of Lake Odessa passed away in Houghton Lake late 
Sunday evening, May 12, 2002.

She was born Dec. 30, 1905 in Woodland, to Charles and Etta (Wortley) Darby.  
Dorotha graduated from Lake Odessa High School in 1923 and then attended 
Western Michigan College for two years.  Prior to marriage to Victor Clum on 
May 23, 1928, she taught at the Darby and Brown Schools.  Dorotha had been 
active for many years in Alto, Freeport and Lakewood Baptist Churches.  She 
loved to write letters, play the piano, and enjoyed crocheting and tatting.  
Dorotha and Victor had worked hard together for many years on their farm.

She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie (Leonard) McMillen of Houghton Lake; 
her son, Voight (Margaret) Clum of Anchorage, Alaska; ten grandchildren; 23 
great-grandchildren; seven great, great-grandchildren; her sisters, Cecile 
Carter and Glenna (Bruce) Stuart; her sister-in-law, Marie Darby; and many 
other loving relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Victor S. Clum; her son, 
Victor D. Clum; her sisters, Iris Gilbert and Meredith Darby; and her brother, 
Forrest Darby.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday at the 
Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa.  The funeral service will be held at 11 
a.m., Friday at the Koops Funeral Chapel.  Burial will be in Lakeside 
Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Children’s Home.
