Oscar Clute, president of the Michigan Agricultural college from 1899 to 1893, died at Los Angeles, Cal., on January 27, of pneumonia. He was 65 years of age. He was an able writer on agricultural subjects. Deceased was a brother of the late Lemuel Clute, was long years ago a resident of Ionia - having taught school in a frame building located on the corner where Dean & Eyster's store now stands, corner of East Main and Jackson streets. He was a gentleman of culture and refinement, and was greatly respected by all who knew him.
