Wm. Coates Is Dead After Operation

Well-Known Ionia Carpenter Died Sunday at Ann Arbor.

Word was received Sunday evening of the death of William Coates at an Ann Arbor
hospital.  Mr. Coates underwent an operation there two weeks ago.  He was 65
years of age and had been a resident of Ionia for many years.  He had been
employed at carpenter work.

Besides his widow, Mr. Coates is survived by five children, Elmer Coates and
Mrs. Frank Beckhorn, of Ionia; Mrs. Anna Todd, of Grand Rapids; William Coates,
of Flint, Mrs. Rudolph Heether, of Detroit.  He is also survived by a brother,
Thomas Coates, of Detroit, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Ketchum, of Ionia.

The body arrived in Ionia Monday afternoon from Ann Arbor, and the funeral
announcement will be made later.
