The Ionia Daily Sentinel, Thursday, March 6, 1941
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday from the Myers funeral home 
on East Main street for Thomas Coates, former Ionian, who died at his home in 
Detroit Saturday, March 1.  Rev. George Woolcock officiated and interment was 
held at Highland Park cemetery.  Bearers were William Thomas and John Beattie 
of the Modern Woodmen of America, of which lodge deceased was a member, and 
Edward Thompson and Edward Poole.  Attending the service from out of town were 
Mrs. Thomas Coates of Detroit and her daughter, Mrs. Mason of Springfield, 
Mass.; Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Coates, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Coates, Mrs. Rudolph 
Heether, Mrs. Mary Freeman, Thomas Feeney and William Feeney, all of Detroit.  
Thomas and William Feeney accompanied the body to Ionia Tuesday evening.
