Aileen M. Coates, 84, of Ionia, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2006.  She was 
born on January 5, 1922 in Ionia, the daughter of Harry and Ada (Smith) Warnes.

Aileen was a lifelong member of the St. John's Episcopal Church and long-time 
member of the Altar Guild. Her hobbies were needlework, jigsaw puzzles, 
reading, bowling and flower gardening and she was a homemaker. Aileen 
graduated from Ionia High School in 1940 and married Richard Coates in May, 
1941.

Mrs. Coates was prededed in death by her parents; infant brother, Frederick; 
infant sisters Jeanne and Joyce; son-in-law, Roy Nyman; sister-in-laws: Alice 
Mason and Dorothy Rumohr; brother-in-laws: William Coates, Harry Coates and 
Edward Vern McCarn.  She is survived by her husband, Richard of 65 years; 
daughter, Pamela Nyman of Big Rapids; brother Vern (Elaine) Warnes of Ionia; 
brother-in-law Gordon (Barb) Coates of Jenison; sister-in laws: Marie McCarn 
of Ionia, Beverly Coates of Stanton and Esther Coates of Nunica; brother-in-
law, Gerald Mason of Belding; and many nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to 
the American Heart Association, St. John's Episcopal Church or a charity of 
your choice. Arrangements are entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Homes, 
Ionia Chapel.
