George C.Coats Passes Away
George C. Coats, 80 years of age, of Rte. 3, Hastings passed away at Pennock 
Hospital early Thursday morning after being hospitalized four days. Mr coats, a 
prominent Barry County farmer, was born on the family farm and had lived his 
entire life in the community which bears his name.

He is survived by his wife, Jane, one daughter, Mrs Thomas (Doris) Niethamer and 
two sons, Max and Kendal of rural Hastings, 6 grandchildren and 7 great-
grandchildren, also one sister Mrs Carl (Mildred) Heise of Venice, Florida.

Mr Coats attended the Coats Grove Christian Church where services were held 
Saturday at 1:30 p.m.. Burial was in the Fuller Cemetery. Rev. J. Ira Metzkar 
officiated. The body reposed at the Pickens Chapel in Lake Odessa until time of 
service.
