The Ionia Standard, Friday, December 19, 1884

Ernest, a four year old son of Thos. E. Cobb of Ronald was accidentally killed 
on the 9th instant.  The child was left in a wagon for a moment alone, when 
the team was frightened by a calf and jumped.  The child was thrown out, 
striking his head on the ground and fracturing his skull.  He died in about 15 
minutes.
