The news of the doctor’s sudden demise was transmitted to Ionia when Sheriff Hoppough received a telegram late Sunday night from Ohio authorities, who were trying to locate the wife of the deceased. Sheriff Hoppough immediately began inquiries which resulted in the locating of Mrs. Coburn at La Porte, Ind., Monday night and the Ohio authorities advised to wire her at that city. But little was known concerning Dr. Coburn since his coming here several months ago, when he purchased the practice and equipment of the late Dr. J. J. Defendorf. His offices were on West Main street and evidently his practice was limited. How he happened to be in the Ohio town, or what caused hi death has not been learned. Mrs. Coburn never came to Ionia while her husband was located here and it is believed they were estranged.
