He was born January 6, 1887 in Ohio, moving to Michigan as a small boy. Married to Edith Chamberlain, September 11, 1912, they lived in Berlin township until his retirement 18 years ago as a farmer. He was a member of the Berlin Center Methodist church and former member of the Farm Bureau. Besides his wife, Edith he leaves a son, Roger Cochrun of Saranac; two daughters, Mrs. Max Mason of route 4, Mrs Harold Bennett of route 4; seven grandchildren, one brother Ezra Cochrun of Ionia; three sisters, Mrs Goldie Mulnix of Saranac, Mrs Jennie Robinson of Morrice and Mrs Ella Reinhardt of Lyons. Funeral services will be at Morris-Roetman funeral home in Saranac, Saturday at 2 pm. Rev Luther Brokaw will officiate and burial will be at Balcom cemetery. Family will be at the funeral home Thursday and Friday from 7 until 9 pm. A memorial fund has been established for Berlin Center Methodist church." THE ADVERTISER, Saranac, MI, Thursday, September 12, 1968, front page: "John Cochrun, 81, Died after Brief Illness - Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, at 2:00 o'clock at Morris-Roetman Funeral home for John Cochrun, 81, who died Thursday, September 5, 1968, in Belding Community hospital where he had been a patient the past few weeks. The Rev. Luther Brokaw officiated and interment was made in Balcom cemetery. Mr. Cochrun was born January 6, 1887 in Ohio, moving to Michigan as a child. He spent most of his life in the Berlin area. He was married to Edith Chamberlain September 11, 1912, and they did farming until about 18 years ago when he retired and they moved to their present home, 248 W. Riverside Drive near Ionia. He was a member of the Berlin Center Methodist church and was a former member of the Farm Bureau. Surviving besides his wife, Edith, are his son, Roger, of Saranac; two daughters, Mrs. Max Mason and Mrs. Harold Bennett, both of route 4, Ionia; 7 grandchildren; brother, Ezra of Ionia; three sisters: Goldie Mulnix, of Saranac, Jennie Robinson of Morrice, Ella Reinhardt of Lyons."
