His unconditional love for God, his family, and friends helped support him in his fight and ultimately gave him peace. Skip was born in Haverhill, MA. on July 9, 1944. He graduated high school in Baldwin, KS. and served in United States Navy, receiving an Honorable Discharge for 26 years, Skip was employed with the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier in Grand Rapids.He was known to spend a few moments greeting customers and pets alike on his 28th Street route, and quickly became a friendly face.. After retiring, he volunteered at Manna's market for several years. Each Summer, he grew a garden and donated extra produce to individuals in need. Many knew Skip to selflessly offer a helping hand to others in the community. Skip was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his bride Christine in 1985 before settling down in Lake Odessa. Skip helped raise their four children with patience, respect and unconditional love. From the very beginning, he was a strong role model of hard work and perseverance. Skip was also active for several years in Scouting as Cub master of Pack 3396. His hobbies included woodworking, fishing, reading, writing poetry, and spending time with loved ones. Above all else, Skip was known as a born-again Christian and man of God. His strong faith was admired by many in his Kilpatrick Church family. Skip was grateful for several friendships he had, strengthened by a mutual love for Christ, and was greatly humbled by those who thought of him as a mentor with in the church. He is dearly missed by his loved ones and friends, who celebrate that he is at peace with his Creator. Skip is survived by his bride of 33 years, Christine; his daughter, Katelyn; and his sons, Zachary, Jacob, and Mackenzie. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Kilpatrick United Brethren Church on December 29, 2018, located at 10005 E. Barnum Rd. Woodland, Mi. 48897. Visitation, begins at noon and memorial service begins at 1:30 p.m. with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to Manna's Market in Lake Odessa, Mi.
