H. Coe, former well know resident of Ionia, died Sunday night at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hoyt, in Detroit, where Mr. and Mrs. Coe have been living. The burial will take place in Detroit ?? at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon. S. H. Coe was born in Berlin township, Ionia county, 71 years ago. He married Miss Ida Wilcox, of South Ionia, who with the one daughter, Mrs. Hoyt, survive. Mr. Coe was a carpenter by trade and many of the older homes of Ionia were of his handwork. He had lived in Ionia since his marriage, and about 25 years ago purchased the Oscar Thompson house on North Dexter street, where Mr. and Mrs. Coe lived until a year ago when they sold the place to Pearl Hall, and moved to Detroit. Mr. Coe’s health failed about five years ago, and for the last year of two he has been a continual care. He leaves a sister, Mrs. Guy Disbro, of Pontiac, and Mrs. Fred Arnold of Ionia is a sister of Mrs. Coe. Mr. Coe was always an active and progressive citizen, a Republican in politics, and a man regarded highly by the community. His death while not unexpected takes another of the pioneers from the county.
