She was born March 24, 1924 in Battle Creek, the youngest daughter of Perry Harman and Mildren Brayman. She graduated from Lakeview High School, Battle Creek, MI in 1942, where she was voted Homecoming Queen in her senior year by the football team. Jean graduated from WA Foote Memorial School of Nursing in 1946. She was a nurse at Leila Post Montgomery Hospital, the Veteran’s Hospital in Battle Creek, and retired after 46 years in the nursing profession from the Ionia County Memorial Hospital as a surgical RN. She married Larry Coe of Coe Accounting and Tax Reports (Ionia) in 1958. She enjoyed reading and quilting; was a longtime member of the Ladies of the Lake Quilting Circle and also a member of the St. Andrews Church in Portland. She was predeceased by her husband, Larry Coe in 2001 and her parents. Survivors include her children: RJ (John) Chiodini of Mt. Pleasant, Cindy (Pete) Vidor of Grand Ledge, and Gib (Sue) Reynolds of Ionia; sister June (Simon) Swartzle; eight grandchildren: Victor (Jennifer) Chiodini, Nick (Joelle) Zimmerman, Matt (Allison) Chiodini, Mike (Vicki) Chiodini, Luke Reynolds, Marcus, Josh and AJ Dickson; eight great-grandchildren: Kaileigh, Lilly, Jack, Avery, Bella, Emerson, Gunner, Colton and Baby Z due in June. Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 16, at 11 a.m. at the St. Andrews Church of Portland, with Rev. Ed Filter officiating. The family will be at the church 10 a.m. to meet with family and visitors. The family wishes to thank all the staff at McLaren Visiting Nurse & Hospice who provided the most compassionate and comforting care given to Jean and her family, especially her nurse, Diane.
