GLENN W. COE
IONIA- Funeral services for Glenn W. Coe, 87, of 328 North Jefferson were held at
the Leddick funeral home Tuesday at 2 pm with Rev. Carl Hausermann of First United 
Methodist church officiating. Organist was Mrs. Josephine Barna.

Burial was in Balcom cemetery.

Bearer were grandsons Gary W. Coe, James A. Coe, Edward and David Coe and Doug 
Smith.

Graveside services were conducted by the Ionia County Barracks Veterans of World War
I.

Mr. Coe was born in Sebewa township December 9, 1890, the son of Alden and Abbie 
Carter Coe and died Saturday evening at Ionia Manor.

He attended rural schools and was a lifelong Ionia area resident.

He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and worked at the Hayes Car Shop in
Ionia and for 19 years at the Ionia State Hospital, retiring in 1948.

He married the former Jennie Hayden in Ionia, June 26, 1918. She preceded him in
death in 1946. He then married Sarah Adgate Smith at First United Methodist church April 12,
1947. She preceded him in death September 13, 1972.

He was a member of First United Methodist church and Ionia County Barracks Veterans
of World War I.

Survivors include two sons, Gaylord and Donald of Ionia; two step-sons Robert and
James Smith and one step-daughter, Yvonne Smith of Laurel, Maryland; four grandchildren,
three great-grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.

Following graveside services, luncheon was prepared and served at First United
Methodist church.
