Ionia Sentinel Standard, 26 Jan 1993

Ralph W. Cole, 88, of Ionia died Monday at the Ionia Manor.  He was born March
22, 1904, in Sparta, the son of Amos and Margaret Carpenter Cole.  He was a
steeple jack and painter in Ionia for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Mildred; two sons, Larry of Fenwick and
Wayne of Ionia; three daughters, Virginia Worthington and Gayla Gladding of
Ionia, and Kathy Batchelor of Saranac; 17 grandchildren; and six great
grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his daughter Kathryn Cole in 1941;
one grandson; and one half sister.

Funeral and committal services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Myers
Memorial Chapel, Ionia, with the Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating.  The family
will be at the Main St. Chapel one hour prior to the funeral service.  Burial
will be in the Balcom Cemetery in the Spring.  A memorial has been established
for the Ionia Helping Hands, in care of the funeral home.
