Cole, aged 46, of 640 Morton Ave., died at Belding Community hospital Saturday afternoon from injuries suffered in an auto accident on West M-44. Born in Traverse City, Oct. 18, 1917, Mr. Cole lived in Belding for the past six years. He was a truck driver for the Direct Transit Incorporation of Grand Rapids. He was a member of the Central Methodist church of Belding, of the VFW Post in Greenville and a veteran of WWII having served in the US Army overseas. He is survived by his wife Esther; three daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Sandra) Boyd of Logan, Iowa; Linda and Carol at home; three sons, William of Rockford, David J. with the US Army, Colorado Springs, Colo. and Richard at home; father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Duard Cole, Traverse City; two sisters, Mrs. Bain Hoyt, Tucson, Ariz., Mrs. Howard Burley, Baldwin, two brothers, Francis Cole of Libby, Montana, Robert Cole of Traverse City; four step-sisters, Mrs. Earl Freeman, Mrs. Jack Rokos, Mrs. Robert Cole, all of Traverse City and Mrs. Vern Baggs of Tecumseh; four step-brothers, Francis Sheffer, Peter Sheffer and Sidney Sheffer, all of Traverse City and Clyde Sheffer of Pontiac; two grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Huffman Funeral Home with the Rev. Ralph Dean of the Central Methodist church of Belding, officiating. Burial was in River Ridge cemetery.
