SEYMOUR COLES OF BOSTON TP. PASSES Mrs. Seymour Coles, 62, a life-long resident of Boston Tp., Ionia County, passed away Saturday morning, June 2, at Butterworth hospital, Grand Rapids, following a serious operation. Announcement of her death came as a great shock to the large circle of friends and acquaintances. Her last illness was of comparatively brief duration, peritonitis having developed following an operation for the removal of gall stones. Mrs. Coles had been active in affairs of her community, having been a past president of the United Workers Society and of the Ware Parent-Teachers’ Association and a faithful member of the Cheerful Doers of the Lowell Congregational church. Bertha Sophia Fletcher was born in Boston Tp December 12, 1872, the daughter of Asa and Ellen Morse Fletcher. She was married January 22, 1896 to Seymour A. Coles of Boston Tp., where they made their home for 38 years. Five children were born to this union, two sons and three daughters, Hobart A. of Fulton, N. Y., Doris Coles Gardner of Grand Rapids, June Coles Fahrni of South Boston, Stanley A. and Irma Coles Pasanen of Detroit. She is survived by her husband, the five children, two brothers, Guy Fletcher of Richmond, Mich., and Axel B. Fletcher of Park City, Utah, and eight grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Monday at the late home, Rev. S. B. Wenger offering the prayer and Rev. R. W. Merrill giving the sermon. Burial was in Saranac Cemetery.
