Born in Ionia county October 6, 1920, he was the son of Roy and Mary VanSlyke Colley. June 28, 1946 he was married to Lela Allison at Belding. He was employed as a foreman at Gibson Products corporation in Greenville and belonged to the Gibson Down River club. A veteran of World War II he served with the 82nd airborne division of the army. He saw northern and southern France, the Rhineland, central European theater in the Rome-Arno and Naples- Foggia campaigns. Surviving are his wife, Lela; two daughters, Mrs. Dean Young of Belding and Mrs. Rex Fountain of Ionia; three grandchildren; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Colley of Stage road, one sister, Mrs. Edith Trueblood of Ionia; two brothers, Floyd and Howard Colley of Ionia. Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Huffman funeral home in Belding. Rev. Roger Wright will officiate and interment will be at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens near Belding.
