Collins, 67, died Monday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Robert Herbstrieth, after a lengthy illness. Born December 28, 1899 in Barry county, he was the son of Harvey and Edna Collins and spent most of his life in the Lake Odessa area. He was a World War I veteran serving in France, a member of LaVern Demeray post of American Legion and DAV. Besides his daughter, Mrs. Herbstrieth, he leaves two step-daughters, Mrs. Perry Shepard of Lake Odessa and Mrs. Arnold Daniels of Deming, N.M.; two stepsons, Jack Stair of Pleasant Lake and Forest Stair of Lake Odessa; two brothers, Forrest Collins of Irving and Leon Collins of Lake Odessa; three sisters, Mrs. John Waldren of Lake Odessa, Mrs. Bessie Ritchie of Hastings and Mrs. Gertrude Stratton of Middleville. Military services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Pickens funeral chapel in Lake Odessa with Rev. Marvin Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery.
