Collins was born in Groton Tompkins county, New York, June 13, 1826 and moved with his parents to Norwalk, O. in 1832 and to Ionia, Mich. In 1837. He was united in marriage Sept. 14, 1856 to Elizabeth Crays. To this union were born eight children, five of whom survive him. He moved with his family to Waterloo, Ind. In the fall of 1868 and in 1870 moved on the farm five miles northeast of Waterloo and in March 1901 moved back to Waterloo. Two years ago on account of poor health of both, the home was broken up, the mother going to live with her son Floyd, where she departed this life April 10, 1906, aged 76 years, 9 month and 27 days. He was a great sufferer the past year but we trust he is resting now in Heaven.
