The Ionia Daily Sentinel, Tuesday, December 8, 1914

Luman H. Colton, a pioneer of Ionia, who came to this city over a half century 
ago, died in Detroit Monday evening at 9:30 o’clock.  Mr. Colton had been 
living with his daughter in Detroit for some time.  He formerly lived on King 
street in this city.  Mr. Colton came to Ionia in 1853 and since that time had 
resided here.

The remains will be brought to Ionia Wednesday afternoon and the funeral will 
be held from the residence of M.M. Currier, Thursday at 2 o’clock in the 
afternoon.  Interment will be in Oak Hill cemetery.  Mr. Colton leaves two 
children: Mrs. Mary Tighe of Detroit and Allen L. Colton of Washington.
