Colwell, 72, of 1090 W. Main St., Ionia, died Saturday in the Ionia Manor. She was born in Remus Sept. 2, 1909, the daughter or Clarence and Ada Lenon Freer. She graduated from Remus High School in 1927 and from Ferris State College in 1929, and became a member of the Ferris Golden Eagles Club in May 1979. She was a member of Antlerettes, Ionia Elks lodge; American Legion Auxiliary of Saranac; and the VDW Auxiliary in Sheridan. Her husband, Clarence, preceded her in death Sept. 3, 1968. A brother, Ralph, preceded her in death in 1941 and a daughter Sharon in 1949. She is survived by one son, Clare Colwell of Ionia; two stepsons, Ray Green Colwell of Moses Lake, Wash. and Harvey Don Lasko of Washington, D.C.; and a stepdaughter, Delores Roberts, of Ionia. Also surviving are two grandchildren; 8 step grandchildren, and three step great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Myers-Roetman Funeral Home, the Rev. Kenneth Harger of Shiloh Community Church officiating. Burial will be in Saranac cemetery. A memorial for the Ionia County Chapter, American Cancer Society, has been established, in the care of the funeral home.
