Brian George Colwell, of Ionia, age 49, wonderful husband, father, uncle and 
friend to all, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2009.

He was born on Jan. 3, 1960 in Ionia the son of George and Janet (Emelander) 
Colwell. Brian was an avid University of Michigan fan, loved deer hunting and 
enjoyed golf and all sports. He was a wonderful father, who touched many 
lives - especially children. Brian worked for 32 years at Berger Motor Sales 
as the Service Manager.

Surviving are his wife of 20 years, Carol; children Cody, Brianne and Cole; 
mother Janet Colwell; siblings David (Amelia) Colwell and Linda (Jim) Bennett; 
mother-and-father-in-law, Arvilla and Carl Jones; several sisters-and-brothers-
in-law; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, George and a nephew, Corey Ellsworth.

The funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Cliff Allen, Pastor Kirk 
Starkweather and Pastor John Strickland at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009 at 
First Christian Church, 130 E. Washington St., Ionia. Interment will be in 
Balcom Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, 
Aug. 4, 2009 at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich St., Ionia. For 
those wishing, memorial contributions may be made to the children's college 
fund in memory of their father.  A real tribute to Brian, would be to come to 
the funeral home or the church dressed in maize and blue. Go Blue!
