He was born on March 17, 1919 in Yerkes, KY to Floyd and Gillian (Oliver) Colwell. Clay had worked as a coal miner for over 40 years, and after moving to Lake Odessa, he worked at Keeler Brass. Clay had served his country in the US Army during WW II. He is survived by his daughters, Fran Baker and Regenia (Dennis) Vandecar; 9 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 10 great great grandchildren. Clay was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Cappie; daughter, Helen Bishop; and sisters and brothers, Bertha Maggard, Adra Coker, June Porter, Ethel Fields, Ray Colwell, and Raliegh Colwell. Funeral and committal services will be held at the Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 10, 2009. There will be a time of visitation for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. The family has suggested that memorial contributions may be made to the Patient Activity Fund at Heartland Healthcare Center.
