The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Saturday, May 19, 1894

Funeral services over the remains of James V. Combs were held at Allured’s 
undertaking rooms this afternoon, Rev. F. O. Dockey officiating.  A son and 
wife, a brother and wife and a daughter were among the relatives present.  Mr. 
Combs was 76 years of age.  The doctors agree that apoplexy was the cause of 
death.  The remains were taken to the Balcom cemetery in Berlin for interment.
