Ionia Sentinel Standard, 26 Jan 1993

Donald G. Comer, 79 , of 2916 Van Vleck Road, Palo, died Sunday at Ionia County
Memorial Hospital.  Born Aug. 7, 1913, in Gratiot County, he was the son of
Joseph and Sarah Rice Comer.  He was graduated from Palo High School, and served
in the Army during World War II.  He retired as a corrections officer at
Michigan Reformatory in 1973 and had also farmed since 1945.

He married the former Doris Schnicke.  She preceded him in death in 1991.

He was a member of the Palo Civic Club and a life member of the Masonic lodge.

He is survived by a daughter, Carol Mattila of Holt; his granddaughter, Jennifer
Mattila, also of Holt, and a brother, Howard Comer of Chesapeake, Virginia.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. from the Palo Baptist Church, with
the Rev. Ken Ridge officiating.  Burial will be in Palo Cemetery.  Arrangements
by Hull Memorial Chapel, Muir.
