Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Fri. Dec. 7, 1984
IONIA-Russell J. Comer, 76, 120 E. Lytle Street, Ionia, died Thursday morning at 
Ionia County Memorial hospital. 

He was born Dec. 28, 1907 in Montcalm County, the son of Joseph and Sarah Rice 
Comer. 

He was married April 30, 1956 in Belding to Ethyl M. Vierk. She died Oct. 23, 
1984.

He was a lifelong resident of the Ionia area and a farmer all his life on 
Steadman Road in Ronald Township.

He was a former member of the Farm Bureau and employed for four years at the 
Michigan Reformatory.

Surviving are one daughter-in-law, Sharon Comer, two brothers, Donald Comer of 
Fenwick and Howard Comer of Virginia, one granddaughter, several nieces and 
nephews.

He was preceded in death in 1978 by his son Leroy.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. from the Roetman Funeral 
Home with the Rev. Mark Johnson officiating.

Burial will be in the Palo Cemetery.
