Anna Compagner, 99, died at Ionia Manor Saturday.  She was born in The
Netherlands May 28, 1888, the daughter of Rienk and Kathryn VanDerWeg
VanDerLesst.  She was married to Arend Compagner in Oakland, Mich., in Oct.
1907; he died in 1950.  She was a member of Saranac Community Church had had
lived in the Saranac area for the past 50 years.

Surviving are a son, Edwin Compagner of Saranac; three daughters, Gertrude Brand
of Saranac, Linda Blaser of Belding and Rita Porter of Schoolcraft; 12
grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.  One daughter, Kathryn Rush, preceded
her in death in 1986.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. from the Lake Funeral Home, with the
Rev. Stanley Hagemeyer of Saranac Community Church officiating.  Burial will be
in Saranac Cemetery.  The family will be at the funeral home Monday from 2 to 4
p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m.  A memorial for Saranac Community Church has been
established, in care of the funeral home.
