She was born June 19, 1910 in Keene Twp., the daughter of Louis and Carrie (Walker) Cahoon. She was a graduate of Saranac High School. She went on to become a teacher, starting out in the rural area schools and then eventually returning to Saranac Public Schools and also was the librarian at the school until she retired in 1973. She was a member of the Saranac Community Church, member and Past Worthy Matron of The Eastern Star. She was a member of the NEA and Mea teaching associations. She married Ed Compagner June 6, 1932 in Angola, Indiana. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the Saranac Community Church with Rev. Stanley Hagemeyer officiating. Interment will be in Saranac Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Lake Funeral Home in Saranac. Memorial contributions may be made to the Saranac Community Church.
