Ionia Daily Sentinel, 21 Dec 1942

William Compton, 66, died Saturday morning at Cottage Grove hospital, Grosse 
Pointe, where he had been a patient for about two weeks.  He was born in 
Clinton county September 16, 1876, and had lived for the past ten years on a 
farm in Keene township, northwest of Saranac.

He is survived by his wife, Olive; two sons, Murl and Clyde; a daughter, Mrs. 
Vena Onstwedder, all of  Detroit; four grandchildren; two brothers of Mulliken 
and a sister of Charlotte.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Mapes 
funeral home in Sunfield.  Rev. J. W. Winger of Saranac Congregational church 
will officiate.  Burial will be in Danby cemetery.
