Portland Observer, 17 Feb 1886

Former Resident of Danby Dead.

Mr. Phillip R. Compton, Sen., died at the residence of his son Philander, in 
Tustin, Osceola county, Mich., on February 7th, 1886, aged 74 years and 3 
months.  His remains were brought to Danby for interment, last Wednesday; 
funeral services being held in the M.E. Church, of which he was a member in 
good standing for over 40 years.  A large number of the friends of the deceased 
being in attendance, while his remains were laid away in the cemetery to await 
the final resurrection.
