The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Wednesday, May 14, 1980

Ernest Compton, 74, of 7125 McArthur Road, died Monday night at Ionia County 
Memorial Hospital.  He was born March 1, 1906, the son of James and Minnie 
Compton.  He was a retired factory worker from Universal.  

Mr. Compton lived in Saranac all of his life and attended Saranac schools.  He 
also attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo.  In 1937 he married 
Vesta Stutz in Saranac.  She died in 1949.

Survivors inclue a daughter, Doris Compton of Saranac; a mother-in-law, Mrs. 
Mabel Stutz, also of Saranac; and a sister, Mrs. Clyde Compton of New 
Baltimore.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Lake Funeral Home 
in Saranac with the Rev. Earl Cross officiating.  The family will receive 
friends and relatives at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
