Mr. Compton was riding with a friend about two weeks ago when they struck a hole, causing Mr. Compton to hit his head on the top of the car. He had suffered severe pain and Sunday mumps developed and he became worse Monday evening but rested good Monday night and apparently was resting comfortable Tuesday morning when he gave a gasp and was gone. Undertaker Densmore, of Saranac, was called and cared for him. The funeral will be held at the Keene church Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock with burial in the Marble cemetery. He leaves a wife, three daughters, Mrs. Mike Weekes, of Greenville; Mrs. Glenn Weekes, of White’s bridge; Fern, at home, and one son, Clark, who is at home. Two brothers, Jim, of Ionia, and Charlie, who lives with Eber, and four sisters, Mrs. Frank Devine, of Smyrna; Mrs. Ridgeway, and Mrs. Newhalt, of Lowell, and Mrs. Lida Barr, of Smyrna.
