James E. Compton of Lowell, passed away July 8th at the home of his daughter, 
Mrs. Nina VanOcker of Belding.

He is survived by one son, Ernest of Saranac, five daughters, Mrs. Sarah Clark 
of Morris Lake, Mrs. Iva Routt of Caro, Mrs. Esther Archer of Lowell, Mrs. 
Cassie Compton of Detroit and Mrs. Nina VanOcker of Belding, one brother, 
Charles Compton of Belding, one sister, Mrs. Lydia Barr of Grand Rapids, 16 
grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Lowell at Roth’s Chapel and 
interment was in the Saranac cemetery.
