Ionia Sentinel - Standard
Mrs. Gladys H. Compton, 84, of 235 Summit, Saranac, died Thursday at Belding 
Community hospital following an extended illness.  Born in Berlin township 
September 6, 1888, she was the daughter of Samuel and Susanne Petty Pickens.  
August 21, 1924, she was married in Saranac to Truman H. Compton and he died 
November 17, 1959.  She had lived in Saranac all her married life and taught at 
Cooks Corners School and other area schools.

Her only survivors are a sister-in-law, nephews and cousins.  Funeral Services 
will be Monday at 2:30 pm at Morris-Roetman  funeral home in Saranac.  Rev. 
James Frank will officiate and interment will be at Saranac Cemetery.
