COMPTON LAKE ODESSA-Forrest F. Compton, 83, of 818 Jordan Lake Street, Lake Odessa, died July 28, at the Ionia County Memorial Hospital. He was born on July 19, 1905, in Danby Township, the son of Edwin and Georgia (Pearl-Wooden) Compton. He attended Compton Schools and on February 22, 1925, he married Emma Dais in Mulliken. The Comptons lived in Mulliken until 1940, when they moved to a farm near Lake Odessa. In 1948, Compton moved into Lake Odessa. He was employed at the Haddix Saw Mill for several years and then worked at the Smith Brother's Elevator, from which he retired in 1974. He is survived by his wife, Emma and two daughters; Mrs.Kenneth (Geraldine) Moltmaker of Lake Odessa and Mrs.Marvin (Joyce) Smith of Sunfield. One brother, Earl Compton, of Mesa, Arizona, and six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several niece, nephews and cousins also survive him. Two sisters, Bernice Peabody and Mildred Lenheart, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa. The Rev. Charles Richards will officiate. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Lake Odessa. Memorials may be made to the Lake Odessa Ambulance Service.
