Marilyn J. Compton, age 86, of Southfield, died Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 28,
2016, at her home.  Mrs. Compton was born January 27, 1929 in Portland Township,
a daughter of Earl and Ruth (Kassner) Swiler.  She attended Compton School in
Danby Township and then Portland High School.  On June 25, 1949, she married
Harold Compton.  Eventually they made their home in Southfield.  She was a
retired school bus driver.  Marilyn was a member of the Michigan Depression
Glass Club and the Mulliken O.E.S. #161.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Lucille Swiler; and
her brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Marjorie Swiler.  Surviving are her
husband of 65 years, Harold; children, Kathryn (David) Sled of Ontario, Canada;
Charles Compton of Southfield and Denise Herriges of Southfield; nine
grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Dale (Janet) Swiler of Leslie;
several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services were held Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015, at Barker-Leik Funeral Home, Mulliken,
with Dr. J. Harold Ellens officiating.  Interment was in Danby Cemetery. 
Pallbearers were her grandchildren.
