Comstock, 85, of 75 West Tuttle road, died Saturday morning at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born in Shiloh December 29, 1892, the son of Benjamin and Alice Minier Comstock. He attended Shiloh school and worked with his parents on the family farm, servicing with the U.S. Army in Europe during World War I. He married the former Lorene Catt, April 19, 1932 in Angola, Indiana. They owned and operated a gasoline station on East Lincoln Avenue for several years and owned a gasoline station and grocery store near Ada 1947 to 1956 when they returned to Ionia. He was a member of the Lester Sitts post 5056 VFW in Sheridan. Survivors include his wife, one sister, Mrs. E.J. (Marie) Morgan of Hastings, several nieces and nephews. Services are Tuesday at 1 pm from the Leddick funeral home with Rev. Kenneth Harger of Shiloh Community church officiating. Burial is in Sunset Memorial gardens. The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial fund is established for the Ionia County unit of the American Cancer Society.
