Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 8 Nov 1943

Mrs. Ella J. Coney, 87, died Sunday evening at 10:30 o’clock in Sessions private
hospital, Northville, after suffering a stroke seven weeks ago.  She had made
her home in Northville for the past 10 years.  Born Dec. 20, 1855, in
Springfield, she had lived many years in Ionia.  Her husband, Henry Coney,
operated a meat market in Ionia many years before his death in 1901.

She is survived by two daughters, Miss Lulu Coney, a teacher in Northville, and
Mrs. L.W. Yates of Waukegan, Ill.; two grandsons, Capt. Gar. W. Yates and Robert
C. Yates, both of St. Louis, Mo.

The body will arrive in Ionia Tuesday afternoon, and funeral services will be
conducted at the Stone funeral home.  Rev. F.G. Dunbar will officiate and burial
will be in Highland Park cemetery.
