The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, July 21, 1969
Claude C. Conklin, 72, 5516 McKendry road, died July 19, in Ionia County 
Memorial Hospital.  Born July 18, 1897 in Boston township, he lived most of 
his life in Easton township where he operated a farm.  For a short time he 
made his home at 236 Yeomans street in Ionia.  He was a member of Ionia Moose 
lodge and the Michigan Farm Bureau.

Among the survivors are his wife the former Leona Tuthill, whom he married in 
Lowell on April 9, 1921; two daughters, Mrs. Robert Christensen of Belding, 
and Mrs. Richard Comers of Ionia; a foster son, Laverne Bakelaar, Edwardsburg; 
three sisters, Mrs. Oliver Clark, Elkhart, Ind.; Mrs. Homer Cowles, Belding 
and Mrs. S. Bruno of Modesto, California; nine grandchildren and five great 
grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday from Huffman funeral home in Belding, 
the Rev. Ross Tracy of the Central Methodist church officiating.  Bearers will 
be Ronald Hoskins, Gordon Poffehn, John Reinhardt, Oliver Camp, Keith Grieves, 
and Henry Rathburn.  Burial will be in Easton cemetery.
