Ionia Sentinel Standard, 2002

Mrs. Rosanna (Rose) Conner, 86, of Ionia passed away Wed., March 6, 2002 in 
Ionia.

She was born on Aug. 15, 1915 in Moline, Fla., the daughter of Stephen and 
Barbara (Biffort) Kowatch.  The family moved to Ionia when Rose was only one.  
She married Samuel S. Conner on Aug. 20, 1934 in Ionia.  Sam preceded her in 
death on Dec. 17, 1981.  Rose worked for Sears in the catalog department for 
five years.  She then moved on to Montgomery Wards where she worked as credit 
and store manager.

Rose attended Easton Methodist Church until her health began to fail.  She also 
very active in the community be volunteering at Heartland Health Care Center 
and the greater Ionia Area Hospice.

Surviving are son, Samuel (Kay) Conner of Ionia; daughter, Lucretia (Larry) 
Dowsett of Ionia; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.  She was 
preceded in death by her husband, Samuel; brothers, Steve, Albert, Joe and Joe 
Kowatch; and her sister, Anna Ryder.

At Rosanna’s request, cremation has taken place.  There will be a private 
family memorial service in spring.  Those wishing may make contributions to 
Easton United Methodist Church in Rosanna’s name.  Cook Funeral Home was 
charged with arrangements.
