The machine turned a double somersault. Mr. Connor is handicapped by having only one arm, with partial use of missing member by use of a hook. When he saw the dog in the road he became excited and, going at a rapid rate of speed, misjudged the distance between the machine and the animal, did not turn quickly enough. He intended to miss the dog, which was a German Police dog, valued at $300, but killed the animal instantly and cause the machine to turn over twice in the ditch. Mrs. Connor died 15 minutes after the mishap, suffering internal injuries. She was crushed under the rear end of the machine. Mr. Connor was badly bruised about the face and head and suffered several broken ribs and a broken shoulder. It was at first thought his injuries would prove fatal, but there is now a chance for recovery. The six-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Roche, was seriously hurt about the skull, face and eyes it is believed he will recover. Mr. and Mrs. Roche and daughter, about 11 years old, escaped with minor bruises, but all show signs of the tragedy. The accident happened in front of the Ray Edwards farm and the dog was one that they were boarding for a man in Detroit. The road at that point is wide and is free from loose gravel. The party had been on their way to Vestaburg to spend Sunday with Mrs. Conner’s daughter, Mrs. Ed. Scott. The funeral of Mrs. Conner was held on Wednesday afternoon from the Church of Christ, with Rev. M. S. Decker in charge. Burial was made at the Easton cemetery. Mrs. Conner is survived, aside from her husband, by two children, Mrs. Ed. Scott of Vestaburg and a son, Henry Conner, of Keene township, and two brothers, John Reed of Lowell and Austin Reed of Orleans. She was 62 years old.
