Conner, passed from life into death last Friday morning at the residence of her parents in Orleans where she was been sick with consumption several months. Miss Conner had been an employee in the Richardson Silk mill since its establishment here, entering the braid department where she always remained, only leaving when her health failed a few months ago. She was the first girl engaged for that work and became very proficient. Cornie was a favorite among her associates, a young lady of esteemable character in whom they always found a true friend. During her long sickness she bore her sufferings with patience and always appeared cheerful and full of hope. During the last few weeks her friend Miss Jean Lyle remained with her until death sealed her eyes and lips. The two girls were bound together by friendship’s strongest tie. The funeral services were held in the Orleans church and it was the largest gathering on such an occasion ever held there. Rev. A. K. Steward preached the sermon and he was assisted in the service by Revs. McConnel, Seymour Child. The casket was borne by Misses Minnie McDonald, Anna Eltvator, Jean Lyle, Lizzie Martin and the Messrs. Willis Conner, Byron Conner, Guy Conner and M. Dildine. Many beautiful flowers covered the casket and at the grave there was a profusion of them as tokens of respect from her very many friends. Especially attractive was the “Beautiful Gates Ajar,” from her many friends in the Richardson Silk mill. By request Mr. Steward preached from the test, “Yea though I walk through the valley and shadow of death I will fear no evil, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” She was born in Easton, this county, July 13, 1869, and was 28 years old. An unusually large number of friends sympathize with the bereaved family in their affliction.
