MIGenWeb The Ionia Sentinel-Standard Monday, March 9, 1942 GEORGE EUGENE CONNER Funeral services for George Eugene Conner, 72, of Saranac, who died Monday at 4:30 a.m. at Ionia Community hospital, will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Morris funeral home in Saranac. Rev. E. E. Humphrey will officiate and interment will be at the Saranac cemetery.* Taken to the hospital Sunday afternoon, Mr. Conner had been ill for several days. Born November 11, 1869, in Easton township the son of Mr and Mrs William J. conner, he was the last of nine sons. He moved to Saranac about 25 years ago after he retired from farming. For the past seven years he had served as sexton at the Saranac cemetery. Surviving is the wife, May. *George E. Conner is buried in Easton cemetery. ________________________________ The Ionia County News Thursday, March 12, 1942 GEORGE EUGENE CONNER George Eugene Conner, 72, died Monday morning, March 9, in Ionia hospital where he was taken Sunday afternoon. He had been ill but three days. Mr. Conner had lived in Saranac many years. The past six or seven years he was sexton of Saranac cemetery and his work was always conscientiously done and much of the beauty of this little park was due to his efforts. George E. Conner was born to Mr. and Mrs. Wm. J. Conner in Easton township, November 17, 1869, and always lived in Easton and Saranac. He is the last of nine sons and leaves only his widow, May, to mourn his passing. Funeral services are to be held this Thursday afternoon at two o'clock at the Morris Funeral home and burial will be in Easton cemetery.
