Wilhelmina “Billie” Connor, 90, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Belding, died
Monday afternoon, Feb. 8, 2010, in Grand Rapids.  Billie was born March 8, 1919,
in North Blendon Township, the daughter of John and Maggie Mueller Rottier.

When she was a child, her family moved to Calumet City, Ill., where Billie
graduated with the Class of 1936.  Billie was a lifelong teacher working in
Greenville and Belding.  She received her bachelor of arts degree in 1967 and
later a master’s degree in 1969, both from Western Michigan University.  She was
a member of the National Education Association, the Michigan Education
Association and of Delta Kappa Gamma.  Billie was married on April 24, 1943, to
Murl Connor, who preceded her on Dec. 7, 2009.

She is loved and survived by her children, Dan and Sharon Connor of Bishop,
Calif., Steve Connor of Cardiff, Calif., C. Brett Connor of Kotzebue, Alaska,
Jeff Connor of Beaver Island; and her grandchildren, Wade Connor, Taya Connor,
Hannah Connor and Levi Connor.  Billie was preceded in death by her parents;
four sisters, Marguerite, Kay, Carole and Ada; six brothers Frank, Richard,
Adrian, Lewis, John and Ralph; one daughter, Margaret; and one son, David.

Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home,
Belding, with Pastor Byron Davey of the First Congregational Church officiating.
 Private interment will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery near Augusta. 
Visitation will be one hour before the service Thursday.  Memorials may be given
to the Alvah N. Belding Library, Belding Area Schools or the Belding Museum.
